What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

The main thing learned from this latest situation

Do you feel out of control when it comes to the decisions your kids are making?  I'm here to tell you that even if your "kids" are 32 years old, you are not helpless.  The main thing I've learned through this latest situation with Jordan is that the person who prays has the power...period. We've never pushed our children toward the ministry - EVER.  Instilling a passion for God and faithfulness to the house of God has always been top priority, but to full time vocational ministry, absolutely not. I've always said if you can do anything else and you don't really have a divine call - don't do it!  It's too hard and you won't have the grace to do it and to say your days will be a challenge is an understatement.  But if you are called to it, there won't be anything else that satisfies.  My role as a mother has simply been to pray that God's will would be made clear to our children, with whatever they are supposed to do.  Along with tha...

What's happening with Jonah (oops!) I mean, Jordan...

Well folks, here's the 411 on what's happening with   Jordan... He was set to ship out with the military last Tuesday.  Each time he's attempted to do this he's gotten very ill.  We're talking sweating, shaking, vomiting, fever, fainting, the whole nine yards.  He never did shake the overwhelming feelings of sickness and anxiety he had despite us anointing him with oil, praying, and many other things we tried to improve the situation. We took him to MEPS hotel Monday night. At 2 am he called me and said he had thrown up continuously although he was trying to eat the package of food I prepared for him to take. He asked for prayer again. At 4 am he called back and said, "Mom, I can't do this. I can't go today." He begged us to give our blessing for him to come home. We said we couldn't do that even if we wanted to, as he had signed a contract with the military and he would probably be in big trouble if he didn't go.  He said he would cal...

UPDATED -- This is the day the Lord has made...a GREAT day!

It was a great day at Celebration .  God showed up and that's all that matters!  We have been having breakthroughs every week in people's lives.  I'm talking MAJOR stuff...healings from cancer, free operations performed, fantastic job offers coming in, all kinds of stuff that we have prayed and fasted in!  We also had one of our missionary heroes with us today -- Monica Jarvis from the Philippines.  That's always special, for us to be able to catch up with our missionaries and host them. After church there was a fine arts lunch (fundraiser) after church that Dustin was in charge of.   Actually Dustin in in charge of fine arts and Naomi Clowes, an amazing young woman at church is the fundraising coordinator.  They did a cookout today and a water-balloon-a-thon and raised quite a bit of money.  God is blessing their efforts not to mention it was a whole lot of fun. Earlier I posted here that my family was doing something special today and I'd ha...

Why does our dog wear glasses?

Quit trying to figure it out

In the past 24 hours I've had several friends or family members contact me to tell me about crazy things close people in their lives have done.  Crazy is probably a bad word for it.  I've done crazy things myself like leap on top of a few tables and dance after I saw seventy people come to Jesus at an altar one night when I was preaching.  Yeah, I was a lih-tle excited, so much so that when I got to the restaurant afterwards I leaped up on the tables, did a happy dance and gave a shout.   That's the kind of crazy I want to be.  I'm not talking about crazy like going down the street skipping when you are 52 years old or coloring your hair pink or buying a sports car.   The crazy I'm talking about right now are things along the lines of walking out on your family, changing your gender, beating your wife, having an affair, abusing your kids, stealing money...stuff like that.  Yeah, those are things I've been hearing and last night I found mys...

Ya gotta have FAITH.

Last night in our Fusion service at Celebration I taught on the subject of   Conditions to Answered Prayer.  One of them is the ingredient of faith and the fact that God is never moved by need, only by faith.  Needs are all around -- He doesn't have to look far at all to find a need, in fact they are pressing in all around.  If you don't believe me on this, just look back in scripture at all the times God healed or supplied - it was in response to faith, not necessarily need. Consider the woman with the issue of blood.  Remember, the crowd was pressed in all around Him - an overwhelming amount of people in a sea of needs.  Why did He notice the woman who pressed through?  He noticed her because of her faith -- not her need.  Luke 8:42-48 tells us about it and in verse 48 He says, "Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace."   It wasn't her need that made the difference,  it was her faith. God is pleased by faith, notice...

Either we trust God or we don't...

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way." Psalm 37:23 Jordan did not ship out yesterday. It's pretty definite that he won't. It's okay. No, not because I'm his Mom and don't relish the thought of any of my offspring leaving.  I am in reality and realize they won't always live with me nor is that God's plan.  I know things and seasons will change. This is not about me.   At all!   It's about him and what God is doing in his life. As long as Jordan is surrendered fully to the Lord, things are going to be more than alright.  No the path will not always be easy.  Nobody ever promised that.  But I'm the kind of believer who is fully convinced that when we totally abandon ourselves to the Lord He can't help but intervene on our behalf.  Jordan was dedicated as a baby to the Lord, for His purposes.  Not for mine, not for his Dad's, not for the military's or anyone else's but God...
