What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

4 Steps to Freedom

1)    Define the emotion.
What am I feeling?
Why do I feel this way?
2)    Recognize the source.
When did I first feel this way?
When have I felt this way before?
3)    Uncover the lie
What feels true about this?
What do I believe about myself?
4)     Embrace the truth
Jesus, bring truth and light to this place. Lord, what is it that You want me to see, hear and know?
Jesus, come into this place of pain.

I take time to write out everything (for my eyes only) about any situation I'm feeling an overwhelming negative emotions about.

Maybe you have some things like that too.

When you uncover the lie, you are pinpointing anything you've come to believe about a past situation that is not in line with God's Word.

When you embrace the truth, you are zeroing in on what God tells you about the situation, versus the lie you have believed.

For instance, if you were abused, neglected or abandoned, perhaps you came to believe that you deserved it in some way, or even caused it. Maybe you believe that God didn't care. Perhaps you doubt God's love for you because these traumatic things have happened. These are lies the enemy wants you to believe.

What does God's Word say?  Replace those lies with the truth of His Word. Then pray through on it. You may want to ask a few people to join you to pray through on it as you invite the Lord to shed His light (His truth) on your situation.

The counselor gave me one of her business cards, with the 4 steps glued on the back. I made cards like this for our church, utilizing our church business card and putting the four steps on the back.

I made them for our church using size 10 font, and cut them out and then put them on the back of a business card using a glue stick. I'm also keeping extras in my purse for when I might be ministering to someone and share the 4 Steps and need one to give them.

I will share with you more about this tomorrow.  In the meantime maybe you have some writing to do...

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
