What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Highlights from the All God's Daughters Tea at Celebration

What a great day for Celebration Church women and girls!  I was so pleased with how things turned out and wanted to wait until later in the day today to blog and share about our tea.  All of the photos I've posted here were taken by Rachael Rice.  I will post some of my own later but she already has hers up on facebook so I'm taking advantage of that.  (Thanks Rachael!)  Everyone was excited for this day, especially Savanna and I who wore matching dresses for the occasion and sang a duet.  I let her choose what we would sing.  I was very pleased when she came up with the song, "Where You Lead I Will Follow" by Carole King.  We enjoyed singing it together.

The tables were absolutely exquisite, and were hosted by our Celebration ladies.  Each hostess brought her own china and teapot and everything that goes with doing a fancy table for tea ~ centerpieces, etc.   We dined on homemade cranberry orange scones made by Gayle Lechner, with devonshire cream made by Sheri Powell to accompany them.  The cucumber sandwiches were made by Bonnie Stewart, egg salad sandwiches by Candy Rivera and chicken salad sandwiches made by yours truly.  (An assorted array of  scrumptious desserts topped it off ~ various kinds of cheesecake, cream puffs, chocolate eclairs and gourmet brownies.) All of this was served up with plenty of English Breakfast tea.  Our Celebration Men did an amazing job of serving the ladies at this event, from start to finish.  I appreciate every single person who helped set up, serve, clean up, or whatever.  We couldn't have done it without a great team.  Big thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make this day stellar!!

Our guest speaker for the event was Jinny Force.  She and her husband Al serve as our district youth director for Pen-Florida District of the AG.  Jinny brought a   timely message about intimacy with the Lord, and spoke of us being the bride of Christ.  She talked about her own wedding years ago, and the royal wedding and gave a very "real" down to earth message about how we need to spend time with Jesus and be ready for heaven!  She was a great blessing to us and I'm so thankful her schedule was clear to be with us.

Tomorrow morning I'm preaching on the subject:  "A-May-Zing Women of the Spirit!"  I'm so excited.  It's going to be a great Mother's Day.  I know God has something special in store.

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control.
