What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Marriage blog series to start Monday

Never in my life have I witnessed such an extreme attack on the sanctity of marriage as I have seen in the last few months. It seems that the enemy is accelerating his attack to an alarming degree upon holy matrimony in our nation and an unGodly agenda is being forced down the throats of Americans at a rapid fire pace. I for one am not content to just hand over holy matrimony to the world to do whatever they want with it. Marriage is a sacred, divine institution that belongs between a man and a woman exclusively and must be protected. For those who say, "well, heterosexuals aren't doing so great with the marriage issue...they are failing at a 50% rate." Point noted, we need to do better. But that doesn't give people license to turn holy matrimony into perversion and do whatever they want with it.

This issue has always been close to my heart, at least as long as I've been a married woman. Larry and I, together and separately have ministered on the issue of marriage and spoken out boldly from our hearts what we believe God's intentions are for such. This is something we've taught often within our own church, and at many other conferences and venues. At times we've taken serious hits of criticism for it. We've paid a price for some strong and transparent things we've said, however ANY price we have to pay on this issue is worth it to us because we believe so wholeheartedly in God's plan for marriage.

Next week I'm going to be doing a week long blog series about marriage. I'm going to say some things my readers undoubtedly already know and need to be reminded of. I'm going to say some things you might not have ever heard but need to. I'm going to say some things that might make you uncomfortable, and you might even consider inappropriate. If you think you might have issues with this topic, I am giving a fair warning that you might want to skip reading this blog for a week and come back when the coast is clear. :-)

BRING IT ON! I would say more on my blog, but I can't be as candid as I would like because my primary readers are my very very sheltered 12 and 13 yr old nieces, and well I respect their mom... (my sis)
However... I can live vicariously thru you! SO you say it, and I'll support you! How's that? lol

Can't wait!!!

I know I am one of those people who has commented on the divorce rate - I DEFINITELY do not believe that two wrongs make a right in regards to divorce/gay marriage...I am just sick and tired of reading about divorces among high-profile Christians and everyone just shrugging them off like it's just another inevitable Hollywood break-up. Marriage is between one man and one woman...FOREVER!!!!!! Well, 'til death do we part - we're not Mormons...

Sounds like your marriage series is coming at a perfect time :o).

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
