What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Lookin like a fool wit ya
pants on the ground...

Hysterical!!! Our family cracked up Wednesday night when we saw this on AI and I just had to watch it again.  Everybody I know loves it.  This guy is great... Even more funny to me is what Savanna did with this song.  This week is soccer tryouts at her school.  They are making cuts throughout the week, and yesterday more cuts were announced, and so far she has made the team!  Final cuts are made today and we will know this afternoon about whether she is officially on the team.  Well... speaking of fools, yesterday she thinks she might have  found a "fool proof" way of gaining victory over opponents on the field.  (We'll see if it was fool proof or not later this afternoon -- it either really helped her or hindered her.)  Yesterday they had a scrimmage and right in the middle of it she would start loudly singing this song, "Pants on the Ground" and the opponent would get all flustered and just stop, burst out la...

God can do anything
anytime He wants to!

Last night at Fusion was amazing!!!   God was God in His house! This week is our annual week of prayer and we have something regarding prayer going on each day/night. There was a prayer concert last night at Fusion and it was awesome.   It was just worship and prayer and with no message, no invitation for salvation or  anything else but prayer.   But God can do whatever He chooses, as always.  Right in the middle of worship, two people accepted Jesus as their Savior!!    A brand new couple, Louis and Sandy, asked their friends who brought them (Alex and Ingrid) to pray with them to receive Jesus.  We were stoked!  I could sense this was happening from the piano as I was leading and although we don't embarrass anyone nor make them a spectacle (EVER!)  I said, "you know, in the old days churches were mostly always started through a prayer meeting and God's spirit would move and they would see people co...

At the intersection of home, work, church, life!

I work from home on Tuesdays, and yesterday it was nice to have my sister here while I did my usual things.   6:30 am ~ woke Savanna up for school... Maddie was awake and wanted to go out.  It's like that on most mornings.  Still dark outside, and fog and what looks like steam is coming off the lake out back.  The ground was crunchy and frozen and glistened even in the dark.  It's so quiet on these mornings I can practically hear a pindrop outside.   Standing outside in my flannels I just hoped to God she would go potty quickly as the chill of the air is going through me.  Seriously, 30 something degrees in Florida?  Unbelievable.  I'm wondering if I'll have any plants left in the front yard besides our queen palms.  Whether or not there's nothing I can do so I didn't sweat it.   Come to think of it, I haven't sweat anything for so long since it's an iceberg here. 6:45 am ~ Come bac...

Sister Act

I was going to take Shari's photo last night when she was unpacking her suitcase but I thought she might hit me.  No, she wouldn't really.  But I'm sure it would have irritated really her, being that I had already just cajoled her into sitting at the piano to sing two Rita Springer songs and a Chris Tomlin song before going to bed last night at 12:40 am.  All this after she was going through airports and traveling half the day to get to Tampa and had jet lag.  Yeah, a great sister I am.  "You're exhausted??  LET'S GO SING!!!"  LOL  I refrained from taking any photos last night and decided I'd steal this pic from her facebook.   I worked most of the day yesterday trying to blast through as many work projects as possible before she got here and trying to ignore the fact that half of the Christmas stuff is STILL up at my house.  I have only had time to take two trees down so far. There's so much left...

20 days!!! It's crunch time!

These are invite cards that are blitzing the area the next 20 days before launch day.  And, our new website is up!  Find it here.     This past weekend while I was away in Orlando, the foyer was painted as well as the Christian Education hallway and doors, a classroom remodeled, and lots more. Our facilities have been experiencing an extreme makeover the past few months.  Within the next three days our new sign is slated to be up on the front of the property but we will be covering the top of it in preparation for the grand unveiling on launch weekend.  We will leave the bottom part (where you put letters in to do a message) and have the advertisement about our launch weekend there.  Our foyer is getting ready to be tiled in the coming days before the launch as well as lots of other changes.  We're going to be putting huge black and white photos of our Northsiders on  the walls.  Those are going to be the focal p...

You are

I listen to this song in the car almost every day.  It's one of my favorite from Hillsong.  I know it's not new, but every time I hear it, I am ushered quickly right into the presence of God and I hear Him clearly many times as I enter in..  I listen to it several times on my way to the Omni for the meetings/retreat this past weekend.  What a joy that the worship leader for the retreat, Rebecca McInnis, led this song in worship!  I don't think I've ever heard anyone else lead it.  It was like a personal "present" to me at the retreat.     I am getting ready this morning for an amazing day of worship, the Word, fellowship and life changes in the place I love to be most... You are my light and salvation Whom shall I fear You are the strength of all my days And whom shall I be afraid Though war may rise against me Of this will I be sure That I will bless the Lord forever I'll bless Your holy name Yes I will bless the Lord ...

Clarification free weekend

The past few days have been good for me. I have been away in Orlando at district women's ministries reps meetings all day Thursday, and following that a "Leading Ladies retreat."  This particular retreat was at the Omni Champions Gate and was just for senior pastor's wives only and it was so refreshing .  I just soaked in the worship -- the leader was Rebecca McGinnis - had never met her before and I was so impressed with her sensitivity .  The teaching was great and I especially took in everything as Darlene Betzer (one of my heroes) spoke as well as another speaker, one I had never heard before - Margaret Register .  Wow.  She's the author of the book  No Place for Plastic Saints , and her specialty is transparency.   She's a woman who just tells amazing stories about the ministry and makes you laugh, cry and change somewhere in there as it all gets blended together.  I just love people who keep it real .  I a...
