What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started inve

3 Strange Things I Do

I have about 50 pairs of underwear in my drawer but I only actually wear the same 15 pairs, wash them and go through the same 15 again.  I have no idea why I have these other 35 perfectly good underwear in my drawer that just sit there.  I just can't bring myself to get rid of them.

I read someone's facebook wall all the time that I am not a friend with, have no mutual friends with, have never met and more than likely never will.  I happened on their page one day and am kinda fascinated with watching their facebook life from afar.  If they change the privacy setting of their wall it's really gonna devastate me.

The Fugitive is one of my favorite movies.  No matter how many times I watch it I get really nervous and pray to God that Richard escapes even though I already know he is going to escape.

What strange things do you do?   (Keep it clean, please!)

I annoy my husband by printing Scripture out in Greek, taping it to the bathroom mirror and not telling him what it says...

i've also been known to whip out my cell phone, mid conversation, and send a text message about another subject to the person I'm talking to...without missing a beat.

I occasionally paint the dog's toenails...
Ha! Those are great!

I have to sleep with socks on, no matter how hot it is. I can't stand to sleep in bare feet, and I have been this way ever since I was a child.

I used to work in the beauty industry so sometimes when I look at people I think in my mind what I would do to fix their haircolor or what I would do differently on their makeup. This is usually when I am in the mall people watching.

When eating hard candy and my children ask for some, I give them all of the "GREEN" ones, hate green candy even if they don't have a different flavor...

I sleep on the edge of the bed and then pray that I don't fall off once asleep...

I re-write a paper over and over until it's perfect with no scribbles, etc even though I'm going to type it soon after... the hubby HATES THIS WITH A PASSION, lol
Wow Erika, that is funny. I have to sleep with socks if it's the least bit cold. I can't sleep with cold feet. Then as soon as they warm up, I reach underneath, pull the off and throw them on the floor and pick them up in the morning when I get up. Habits!

Melissa,I realize in the middle of the night that I'm on the edge and scoot back over...I hate it that I always gravitate towards the edge. I guess that's just me..."edgy"...ha ha!

I rub my foot to fall asleep,It soothes me. I own shoes in the three digit area.( Never had them growing up) I put bible verses sticky notes every where.( change them in new seasons of life)I hate my feet tucked in cause I feel trapped. So there in and out all night. MY POOR HONEY! I LOVE BRAS!!!! Have tons but like you PD I wear a lot of the same ones. You make me feel normal.I hate to feel dirty or that I might smell unpleasant, So I bathe in the morning at night and sometimes in between. OK PD thanks for loving me and making me feel normal!
I can't stand for my feet to get dirty. I wash them especially during sandal weather many times throughout the day and apply lotion.
Candy, I rub my foot too,on the blanket. Wow, we are sistas from another motha! And I bathe morning and night too. Probably why my skin dries out at times but I can't help it, I can't go to bed dirty.

LaDonna, I should probably be applying lotion...

I thought and thought and couldn't come up with something odd that was also interesting. Then it hit me. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved to take chocolate frosting from the can, put it in a bowl and and mix it with peanut butter. Then I eat the entire thing. No one knows I do this. I usually feel sick to the stomach afterward because it is so rich and heavy, but I just can't help myself. It is sooooo good! I do it about once a year, and then vow never again....until I get the craving.

Some people will never understand this...

And that's okay. Just let us be as we lavish love upon the fur-kids of the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about people. We do care. In fact most of the people I know who are great pet lovers are also the greatest philanthropists. If you're not a dog lover, you might not understand the overwhelming intensity that many of us felt about Tank's reunion this past week. You might think we've lost our marbles. That's okay, we think you've lost your heart. ;)  Before I go on with this post, let me say that we were delighted that CBS 10 posted the video and article about Tank and his Celebration Church reunion yesterday. Click here to watch it. (But then come back!) If you haven't realized it, there is a revolution in America about dogs. Dogs have always been loved and known as the most loyal companions ~ "man's best friend". But things have gone way beyond this. Dogs aren't just dogs or friends anymore. They are family me

Fifty Shades of No Way

This weekend, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will be released and millions of women are expected to flock to the theat er s.  I will not be one of those women.   As a leader of women , some have asked me about this movie. The following is my thoughtful response. Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best-seller lists around the world. The book series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and been translated into 52 languages. It set the record as the fastest-selling paperback of all time.   Is Fifty Shades of Grey just a harmless book or movie? Although n o one seems to be debating this fact, let’s first establish that it’s pornography.  And not just porn, but a genre that is even more dangerous for women. The book glorifies a female character that is controlled and abused by her partner.   Who is excited about this book and mov ie? Hmmmm….you might be surprised. Many women and girls in our churches have read it. Sadly, I am even aware of

Relevant Church doing something...

incredibly RELEVANT!

I just heard some news today that really inspired me. A church here in Tampa, Relevant Church is doing a new thing this month called the "30 Days Sex Challenge." (I've never visited the church but Pastor Trinity - our children's pastor - has visited or has met some people from this church and he was very impressed.) Realizing that this is a major element missing from some marriages (the frequency factor) their lead pastor, Paul Wirth, has issued a challenge for all the married couples to have sex for 30 days in a row. At the same time he has issued a challenge for all unmarrieds to completely abstain from sex. Of course we know the Bible says that those who are unmarried should not have sex in the first place but the point is, a lot of unmarried's aren't obeying the Lord's command to abstain and this is just one pastor's way of trying to get them to see that indeed, there is a better way! (God's way!) At the same time, many married couples are not
