I'm so excited...I just can't hide it!
Today is going to be a great day at Celebration Church, I just know it in my knower. God is going to show up and show off.
Newcomer's Night is at our house tonight and so far we have 25 newcomers signed up to come!!! Who knows, we might get more at the last minute who RSVP. I hope so! The more the merrier. We're doing a BBQ. Most of the time we just do a dessert fellowship for newcomers night but this time I was just in the mood to do something more, so we are. Larry will grill chicken, and I made a humongous amount of potato salad, pasta salad, stuffed eggs (I never call them deviled eggs...I don't want deviled ANYTHING) and my special recipe for baked beans. (It's full of about 5 different kinds of beans, ground beef, bacon and more...it's absolutely to live for!) We'll polish all that off with watermelon and of course plenty of iced tea and lemonade to wash it all down. Most of all, I know the fellowship is gonna be sweeeeeeet as we welcome these new folks to CC. One of my fav things to do is host people in our home and although it takes a lot of work to get things like this ready (we were working on the house all day yesterday) it's worth it.
I am so grateful for these precious folks who help us with so much. They are church members/leaders but also such caring friends. Eddie jokes about me "paying them in lasagna and meatloaf"...they love to work for food, at least for mine. (Candy and Bonnie are excellent cooks too, by the way. But there are certain recipes of mine they enjoy.) Eddie likes my meatloaf recipe and jokes all the time that in his opinion, "only white women can make meatloaf," at least the meatloaf dishes that he has tried. Eddie and Candy are spanish. He says that when spanish women make meatloaf, it it comes out tasting "spanish". He loves spanish food but says he wants his meatloaf to taste American. Maybe the kind he has had before turned out that way because they may throw their standard spices (Adobo, Sazon, etc.) into it? Yesterday I made lasagna and garlic bread, and also taught Candy how to make perfect iced tea. There is a trick to that too. Some people say, "how can you mess that up? It's just tea bags and water." Nope. There really is a science to brewing perfect tea. I'm almost as serious about the quality of tea as I am about spiritual warfare.
After Dustin helped lead worship at Prayer and Pancakes Friday night, he had to get up early and work a double on Saturday, bless his heart. When he does that he sometimes doesn't get home until 2 am and then he'll be up early again this morning to help in leading worship at CC. I'm blessed to have such a dedicated son, actually a dedicated family. Jordan will be up early this morning to play for worship too, but he's tired for a little different reason. After drumming at P & P he chose to sleep a few short hours and get up early and go surfing with his friends all day. He came back looking like a lobster which I was none too happy about. He did use sunscreen properly however I think sometimes it's just that he's out there on the beach for so long. Savanna hung with us at the house yesterday and continued to re-coop from a week at camp and staying up all night for P & P. She also decided to try her hand at making a quilt yesterday. That's my girl. She's so creative.
Onward to begin this wonderful day of spiritual impact, and blessings...starting with PRAISE. It's the key to so much...

This was after they were up half the night/early morning at Prayer and Pancakes, PLUS Todd and Bonnie cleaned the church before they came over. Now, that's dedication!! Eddie and Todd installed a new dishwasher for us (I've been washing dishes by hand for a month now -- our old dishwasher gave up the ghost on Father's Day.) I was never so excited to do dishes last night loading them into the new dishwasher. You don't realize how much you rely on an appliance until it's gone. Eddie couldn't believe how giddy I was with excitement over a new dishwasher. I'm tellin' you I was rejoicing big time over this blessing. Todd also did some other odd jobs around the house that we needed his expertise with.
