What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Fly little bird, fly...

Jordan went to his Commander's Call  for the Air Force yesterday and they have a job for him now, and he signed his contract.  He leaves on May 25.

 It's really surreal.  I haven't even really wrapped my head around the fact that he's leaving yet, but in just a few weeks it will be upon us.  My first little bird will be flying the nest.  Yeah, I know he's almost 19 but he will always be my little one.  :)  Boys always need their Momma too, no matter how old they are -- or so I'm told.

It really does seem like yesterday that I was...

birthing him in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio...

holding my precious little one wondering what life would hold for him, and for us...

then shortly after chasing him all around trying to keep him safe...

his Daddy bringing him safely down from McDonalds roof...

watching him learn to play the drums and become really good at it, exceptionally good...

seeing him graduate from high school...

helping him through many highs and lows over 18 years...

and questioning many times if he needed prescription drugs....or if I did!

The time is almost here for our little bird to fly.  He will earn his wings and do well, no doubt.  

So, Moms out there...have any of your precious ones flown the nest yet and if so, what lessons do you have for me to learn from you?  Do tell.   I don't like to learn things the hard way so please just tell me what I  need to know.

Unfortunately I do not have any advice as my youngins are not even to their teens yet. But I want you to know that I will be praying for you and for Dustin. Love ya!

Opps I meant to say Jordan but I am sure Dustin needs coverage as well as Savanna. Just gonna blame the temporary brain lapse on this nasty cold I got :) Love ya

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
