What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! One last look back...


Larry and I last night at Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Miracle Theater.  It was awesome!   We had dinner at the Applewood Restaurant and yum, was it ever good!  Then we had some time before the show so we went to a book outlet nearby where they had amazing sales.  We were having the time of our lives in there...bestselling (recent) titles for $3 and $5 each.  No kidding!  We ran out of time so I want to stop there on the way out today.   I get so engrossed in what I'm doing in a bookstore it's like I'm in a trance.   I have a love affair with books...just can't have enough of them.


The cabin we stayed in ~ A Bear Encounter.  I would highly recommend it ~ it's an absolutely beautiful cabin, and rated "5 stars" online.  I would definitely want to return.  In fact, sometime we'd like to come back and bring any of our kids who are able to come.  We may bring a shovel and some salt next time if we're coming in the wintertime!   :) 

 

The infamous "hill"!  When we arrived there were no tire tracks and it was just one big sheet of ice.  On the other side of this is a HUGE drop.   It's beautiful but could be dangerous.

I got outside alongside the road on our way to downtown Gatlinburg to take this photo.  

Downtown Gatlinburg ~ we like walking along the street and shopping at the many places here.  I go in stores I'm not even particularly interested in sometimes, just to get warm for a minute or two.  Larry reminds me of just how much I've gotten used to Florida life.  My blood has thinned like everyone's does when they move there, and I just can't take standing out in the cold for any length of time anymore.

We say farewell to Gatlinburg and "A Bear Encounter" this morning to head back to Tampa.  We will stay overnight somewhere and take our time.  We are savoring each moment.   It has been a wonderful  time away.  Thank you, Celebration Church for making it possible!

Can we please talk about what we're FOR, not what we're AGAINST?

I have developed a habit of listening to preaching podcasts while I’m getting ready in the mornings. Every day I listen to a sermon on line. I listen to people preach who are famous, some not so famous, some who are personal friends. Some challenge me, some bring change to my life, some refresh me, and some flat out irritate me. Although I like to look at the positive, today I do want to mention what irritates me. Because truly, it’s the fact that some preachers do not focus on the positive! Negativity is my complaint. Lately I’ve been listening to a preacher-acquaintance who has planted a church. He’s a great preacher and I enjoy listening to what he has to say, except for one thing. Each time he preaches, he casts a little vision for the church in each sermon. Now, I think that’s great. But the problem is the way in which he does that. Instead of talking about the positives of his church, he bashes everyone else “in comparison” to his new church. This is typically a paragraph out...
