What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I listen to this song in the car almost every day.  It's one of my favorite from Hillsong.  I know it's not new, but every time I hear it, I am ushered quickly right into the presence of God and I hear Him clearly many times as I enter in..  I listen to it several times on my way to the Omni for the meetings/retreat this past weekend.  What a joy that the worship leader for the retreat, Rebecca McInnis, led this song in worship!  I don't think I've ever heard anyone else lead it.  It was like a personal "present" to me at the retreat.

I find it interesting that such a "spiritual" woman as yourself has not had any time to blog about the crisis in Haiti. What's up with that?

We are launching our new church in 12 days and I have about 30 things on my to do list each day, not counting my other job as a career coach. However, I'm very touched by what's going on in Haiti, in fact Larry and I discussed it and felt very strongly we should talk about it on Sunday and take an offering to help financially over there, which we did. And we have been in intercessory prayer, of course.

Anyone who truly knows me (for you to ask this question indicates you don't know me personally) knows I have a true heart for the nations and in fact consider Africa my second home.

I haven't blogged about it for the simple reason, however that I don't have anything to say about it that is particularly noteworthy. Other newscasters and bloggers are doing just fine reporting what they know about it first hand. Many of my missionary friends are speaking first hand from their experience being there. I do not have to speak to every subject, as I may not be the best one to do it. I also need not announce what we are giving or doing in response on my blog, but to answer your question I am very much financially and with my prayers supporting Haiti as well as leading our church to do so, although I have not made a public announcement on my blog.

I am gathering by your comment that you have already posted a blog on this subject. Please post a link here to your blog and I'll be glad to direct people to it, if you have a fresh word about Haiti.

I always am surprised that bloggers allow critical comments from those unwilling to sign their name. If you were willing to research Deanna and her work in and out of the "ministry" you WOULD KNOW that she DOES have a heart for all missions. There are so many areas all over the world in equal to or greater than the crisis in Haiti. Just yesterday, our governor brought 59 orphans from Haiti to PA to be adopted. This is wonderful and I am happy for those children. But do you know that there are already over 20,000 children awaiting adoption in the PA foster care system? We know because we adopted two several years ago. What about those children? They need homes and families to beling to just like the children in Haiti. So Anonymous, if you have been given a burden by God for Haiti, act on it!! But my question to you is...What are you doing for those in need in your town or city?

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
