What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Happy Anniversary to us...

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary ~ and at 2:00 pm we will have been married for 22 years. Today Larry made reservations for us to go to Safety Harbor Resort where we will stay tonight. We're going to have dinner at one of our favorite places, Shephards -- where they have amazing seafood.

I'm really looking forward to a night away with my husband. It's been a week and I'm feeling a bit overloaded. In addition to my normal work in pastoring (which entailed some extra things thrown in this week I didn't expect), and moving forward on getting my health issues straightened out, we got a bunch of new clients this week in my career coaching job. There was a plant that shut down in the midwest and we are serving ALL of the employees. I had a list of clients that I was given on Wednesday to engage and...after much hard work at 10:30 pm last night every single one of them was what we call officially "engaged", meaning they are signed on the dotted line, I have had an initial introductory call with them, and an appointment set for an assessment in the coming week. (Um, yep...it's going to be another busy week next week)

I'm going to enjoy my time at Safety Harbor and Shephards, AND with my man...that's for sure. Adios...

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
