What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started inve

Sorry (Updated)

I was asked to take down the blog post that I wrote earlier today. Out of respect, I did so but am offering it through private e-mail with my husband's blessing, if you are a friend who I know personally and you consider yourself a conservative. In the short time it was public on the web I got great feedback about it. If you would like to read it, please PM me here. Interestingly enough about five hours after posting it, I received an e-mail from the "White House Correspondence Team." I'm serious. Here it is:

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your message. On behalf of President Obama, we appreciate hearing from you. The President has promised the most transparent administration in history, and we're committed to listening to and responding to you.

The Presidential Correspondence Team

Geez, they must have somebody checking every five minutes to see what people are writing. Let's hope they are as good at responding to terrorists as they are pastors.

PLEASEEEEEEE dont apologize - I wouldnt have you any other way and I'm sure 99 1/2percent will agree. One of the many reasons you're so loved is because "YOU SPEAK WHAT YOU'RE TOLD!"

Thank you!!!
Explanation: I had published what I thought was a brilliant post earlier today. Right away a few people agreed and commented the post, or emailed me about it. One person said they thought it should be picked up and published by somebody else besides me as well(see sidebar comment for one - I think it might still be there although the post is gone, not sure....)

However, I had to remove the post. Knowing how sensitive people can be about some things in the church (not just my church - any church) my husband asked me to take the post down since it could have truly upset some people. There was nothing unGodly about it, in fact it was actually exposing some unGodly things, however, any of you who are pw's know how that goes.

If you consider yourself a conservative and you would like a copy of the post please email me at PastorDeanna@aol.com and I will be glad to send it to you privately. It's basically a dissertation on factual current world events that you might find very interesting. I have saved it in my drafts so that I can privately mail it to anybody who wants a copy.

This is one of things things I do not like about the ministry. I think upon retirement from pastoring one day I will write a VERY long blog post saying everything I longed with all my heart to say for so many years but was not able to. Anybody with me on that?

Oh well, back to being as real as I can possibly get away with...

The post was excellent and every regular reader should email PD for a copy :-)
Would you believe, and I am not even kidding, that I just got an e-mail from the White House? I am not joking.
This is the message in case you are curious:

ok PD one, I have not read the post but would like for you to send it to me. But I have to say all of us wives, specially PW's need to take your example of humbleness and submitting to your husbands Godly authority as the head of the house but also your submitting to him the pastor. I know you two are co-pastors but the fact that you still submitted to his request is a huge deal. I appreciate seeing another women of God who is willing to submit because she loves her husband and honors his authority.
Please do send me the post I would love to read it. I am amazed that you have gotten a letter. I will have to let Sean know this cause his blog discusses President Obama and other political things.
Love ya girl!

In one word: "WOW!" This was truly amazing. In only 15 days much of the ground Bush made was erased. God has a plan by having Obama in there but we don't have to jump in with both feet. Like you said: "somebody's gotta keep their presence of mind and stay the course." I believe Obama will do some good that McCain would not do. Just by his disowning of Palin showed me that he wasn't the right man for the job. Beyond this, we need to pray because his liberal ways will make this country less Godly. Prayer does change things! Obama isn't the answer, Jesus is. It's our responsibility to pray. Our prayers will affect him and he will be led by God. I don't understand why God lets babies be murdered by the thousands daily. I do know that He allowed it before in Moses's and Jesus's time. Both were spared from death to lead the Christian world at their particular times. God has a plan. That's the only answer for why these decisions are being made by our president. Maybe the Billy Graham quote has something to do with it? Trust Jesus!!!
I think the White House Team meant to say: "Thank you for disagreeing with us. It doesn't matter what you say because we'll do what we want anyways. Thank you for caring and have a nice day."
I don't believe either of them were the person for the job. I said from the beginning that this election was the evil of two lessers.

(Yes, I meant to say it backwards like that.) :-)

Some people will never understand this...

And that's okay. Just let us be as we lavish love upon the fur-kids of the world. It doesn't mean we don't care about people. We do care. In fact most of the people I know who are great pet lovers are also the greatest philanthropists. If you're not a dog lover, you might not understand the overwhelming intensity that many of us felt about Tank's reunion this past week. You might think we've lost our marbles. That's okay, we think you've lost your heart. ;)  Before I go on with this post, let me say that we were delighted that CBS 10 posted the video and article about Tank and his Celebration Church reunion yesterday. Click here to watch it. (But then come back!) If you haven't realized it, there is a revolution in America about dogs. Dogs have always been loved and known as the most loyal companions ~ "man's best friend". But things have gone way beyond this. Dogs aren't just dogs or friends anymore. They are family me

Fifty Shades of No Way

This weekend, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will be released and millions of women are expected to flock to the theat er s.  I will not be one of those women.   As a leader of women , some have asked me about this movie. The following is my thoughtful response. Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best-seller lists around the world. The book series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and been translated into 52 languages. It set the record as the fastest-selling paperback of all time.   Is Fifty Shades of Grey just a harmless book or movie? Although n o one seems to be debating this fact, let’s first establish that it’s pornography.  And not just porn, but a genre that is even more dangerous for women. The book glorifies a female character that is controlled and abused by her partner.   Who is excited about this book and mov ie? Hmmmm….you might be surprised. Many women and girls in our churches have read it. Sadly, I am even aware of

Relevant Church doing something...

incredibly RELEVANT!

I just heard some news today that really inspired me. A church here in Tampa, Relevant Church is doing a new thing this month called the "30 Days Sex Challenge." (I've never visited the church but Pastor Trinity - our children's pastor - has visited or has met some people from this church and he was very impressed.) Realizing that this is a major element missing from some marriages (the frequency factor) their lead pastor, Paul Wirth, has issued a challenge for all the married couples to have sex for 30 days in a row. At the same time he has issued a challenge for all unmarrieds to completely abstain from sex. Of course we know the Bible says that those who are unmarried should not have sex in the first place but the point is, a lot of unmarried's aren't obeying the Lord's command to abstain and this is just one pastor's way of trying to get them to see that indeed, there is a better way! (God's way!) At the same time, many married couples are not
