What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Memories from Mexico

My man and me, on the balcony of our room.  I slept in quite a bit but Larry got up to watch the sunset each and every day.   
Costa Maya ~ an absolutely beautiful place.
Our room :)  I had breakfast in bed most mornings.  Luxurious!

Larry and I sitting on the steps of the Mayan Ruins.  The cruise director gave a list of "top ten dumbest things people have asked me or said to me while on a cruise."  They were hysterical!  These were actual complaints people brought to his attention.  One lady complained and asked for her money back from the Royal Caribbean Ruins excursion.  She said, "I was very disappointed that the Ruins were in such poor condition."  Too funny!

Our steward, Sebastian, cleaned our room and left us this elephant.  So cute.
The pool deck, where I spent a lot of time ...one of my favorite parts of the cruise. I spent a lot of time here in the main pool and in the Solarium pool as well as on the deck, just reading.  I finished reading all of my magazines that have been stacking up (that I haven't had time to read) plus another book.

Costa Maya - one of the pools in port.  So much fun - they had a DJ and people were dancing in this pool and you could bring your drinks right in the pool with you.  So cool.

Beautiful pictures!! When I visited the Mayan ruins, I overheard an American complain that the stairs were uneven and that those Mayans should have used a ruler when building them. I'm so glad you and Larry had such a wonderful time!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
