What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I picked Savanna up from school early today and took her to the dentist. While we were in the waiting room I picked up a MORE magazine (I really love those!) and started reading and there was this quote by Whoopi. I immediately identified with what she said, although I don't condone everything about her lifestyle, I think there is truth to this particular quote.


We can do absolutely anything if we are willing to deal with the response. I think most people live their lives in fear or they are not real simply because they have fear of responses. Others don't have a fear, just an intense dislike for dealing with responses. There is nothing wrong with that, it's simply their choice.

Take my husband for instance - he can "deal with" a response anyday - he's a strong man. However most times he has such a serious dislike for negative responses, he plays life much safer than I do.

The older I get, the more fearless I get concerning dealing with a response. What about you?

My mom taught me the secret to dealing with responses (it took awhile for me to catch on, but here it is): "Let it be their problem." Once I truly started to put this into practice, it has made a world of difference!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
