What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Is this E-Harmony or job coaching?

Yesterday I was having a talk with one of our assistant regional managers, Angela, and marveling at how God personally selects my job seekers.  Mine could go to ANY coach at NextJob , but in God's divine plan, they are assigned to ME!  We are a perfect match!  How do I know it's a divine connection and not just something random?  Well, in many different ways and one of the calls I had recently typifies this. Angela totally agreed with me and said it's happened to her many times.     Job seekers don't always talk to you about career advice. They also talk to you about everything from what they are making for dinner to what made them mad about that day, what they are looking forward to, or what made them laugh that morning when they woke up. They ask my advice on what to buy their kids for Christmas or how to get gum out of the carpet.  NextJob trains us to meet them where they're at, and I really try my best to do that.  So when they say, "did yo...

He wants to BE WITH US...that's all...

I'm posting today at 4 pm which is odd.   On Sunday night we got home kinda late from prayer service at CC and going out to eat with a bunch of people.  I only got a little bit of time with Max and Maddie before it was time for Larry to put them in their cages to go to sleep for the night.  I was sad.  I almost cried.  Although we had a spiritually high day all around at the church, I missed my snuggle time with the dogs afterward so much...an important part of my day was missing. Last night we got home from making a hospital visit to St. Joe's to visit Danny & Josie Martell and their new baby girl, Arianna.  Upon arriving home I couldn't wait to settle in with the dogs and I and stayed with them  until it was time to go to sleep.   I fell asleep right between them and Larry had to say, "hon, it's time for me to put them in their cages now...you have to get up now."  (Oh, darn!)  If you haven't guessed by now, I LOVE ...

And the rest truly IS all gravy...

I'm so proud of my kids.  They all love and serve God.  No matter what else they accomplish in life, nothing will EVER mean more to me and to their father than this.  Whatever else they do or don't do in life is inconsequential to us compared to the fact that they love God and serve Him.  The rest is all gravy, truly...and I mean that. Friday we went on a hospital visit as a family.  While Jordan and I were walking hand in hand through the parking garage together (yes, we still do that and he's not ashamed) and speaking of  paths he could take in life he says to me, "Momma, would you be proud of me if I do such and such?" and "Momma would you be proud of me if I did such and such instead?"  I simply told him what I have said over and over and over again to him throughout his life, "Jordan, I will always love you unconditionally, AND of course I will always be proud of you.  Loving and serving God with your whole heart is all that matters to me....

History making week ahead!

Today we start the annual week of prayer at Celebration Church. I love this week! I love to pray and besides that nothing significant every happens without it.  We say that "prayer is the engine that runs CC."  Every week we've been having answers to prayer. This past week we prayed for a man named Jason who isn't a Christian, but we get lots of requests from people who aren't believers... yet.   We are THRILLED to pray for all requests that come our way.  So anyway, Jason... has a 7 cm tumor in his brain and he and his wife were just filled with fear that it was cancer but we prayed for them at CC at both our weekly prayer gatherings last week, and guess what...........NO cancer!  Praise God.  That's just one answer to prayer we've received lately.  All kinds of things are happening. I didn't blog in specifics prior about what the man from Alabama said to me a few weeks ago when he gave that prophetic word but it was about FREEDOM coming to C...

Stuff I'm just loving right now...

Of course I always love these peeps... And I'm really diggin'... Elevation's "Kingdom Come" Album Homemade soups (I make at least one a week.) My I-phone for everything BUT talking on the phone. Fresh cherries (got a whole bunch of 'em in my fridge right now....love snackin' on 'em) Getting e-mails from people saying I've changed their life in some way. Using social media in every way possible to glorify God and change lives in a positive way.  A clean kitchen Amazon.com Candles, candles and more candles! My amazing friends  Celebration Church ~ no place like it!!! When Larry says, "you have a sexy brain." [Instead of saying, "you're the most beautiful woman in the world...and the smartest," he usually chooses to combine it and say, "you have a sexy brain"] :)

I love dogs because they're predictable

I know...I didn't blog yesterday.  That never happens.  I mean it literally NEVER happens -- at least since I have been blogging publicly.  I blog everyday rain or shine, good or bad, happy or sad.  The truth is I tried repeatedly to blog yesterday but something was up with blogger.  Although I restarted my computer several times and tried to get into my account , I couldn't post.  Finally at about 1:00 am, I gave up and decided it wasn't worth losing any more sleep over.  Sorry to miss a day...I sorely missed it more than anyone may have missed reading it.  Blogging is a huge part of my life, so the absence meant more to me than anybody.  But here I am, back again -- with something to say as usual.  When do I not have something to say? Everyday I snuggle with my dog Max and sing a song to him.  I've written a song for him (one of many I've written for him and Maddie) and the lyrics begin with, "You are my Max...my only Max..." a...

I've come to realize...

The 2010 year has come to a close.   Last year held great challenges as well as great victories and I am so ready for what God is going to do in 2011.  The truth is, without a challenge there is NO victory!!  I can't even describe what's stirring in my spirit about what's ahead.  At the same time I'd like to reflect on some things that came to the front burner of my mind in the past year.   I come to realize more than ever the importance of staying the course and declaring the uncompromising word of the Lord. I've come to realize that when you stay the course, it's not without sacrifice.  You may lose things (or people) you held dear, because you held on.  But that's okay. I've come to realize all over again just how important focus is. I've come to realize how terrible fear is and how transforming faith is. I've come to realize more than ever what an honor it is to be the momma and daddy of a church.  For those of us who lead,...
