What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Are you a bandwagon Whitney Houston fan?

I'm not.

I've been a true fan for a long time, and more than that, an intercessor. I'm just one of many people, probably thousands who have seriously prayed for her for many years. We saw the hand of God upon her life -- an amazing gift, and we also saw the intense struggle she faced. She was more than an icon - she was a real person standing in need of prayer.

I do understand the bandwagon thing. It happens after any tragic death. Whitney Houston posts are at an all time high as well as downloads of her music. 

There are bandwagon fans and then there are those like me who have every project she's ever recorded, every movie she's ever made, and prayed for a long time although they've never met her and knew they probably never would.  I've blogged about Whitney many times before, and spoken about her in messages. To read some of my previous writings about her or even a small reference I've made about her in my writing you might want to go here, and here and here.

A lot of people are posting things on the web right now about the ridiculousness of remembering Whitney Houston instead of members of the military who are killed, or other individuals. Here's what I believe...

Everybody should be remembered.

Everybody.

To honor one person doesn't mean to dishonor another.

Let Whitney and her family have their time.

I'll be watching the "home going service" as her family is calling it, when it is streamed live tomorrow, and assume all other true fans and prayer warriors probably will too.

I will really miss hearing her live again. I grieve that there will be nothing new. 


She had an incomparable gift.

I am a true fan since the first time I saw the bodyguard I was in the 7th grade in 2001. I remember buying her greatest hits album and the just whitney album. I had to put them on layaway because my allowance was $5 a week. I messed my greatest hits album up by cleaning it with nail polish remover I cried so hard my parents got me another one. I remember when I Look to You came out I bought it the second day I was so excited! I remember jumping around like I was in NYC when she was on GMA! And making sure I taped her Oprah interview and I still have her lifetime achievement award from BET on tape strangely enough my sister found it and we watched a week before she died. I remember crying then thinking how long I've loved Whitney and all of my memories! I'm going to miss her so much it's like a family member died *sigh*

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me.
