What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Typical conversations with my 20 year old

Friday afternoon 1/20/12 Standing in our kitchen at home Jordan: Hey Mom, I'm soooo excited for tonight. Me: What's going on? Jordan: I'm going with Paul, Jorge and Hayden to see my favorite bands at the House of Blues in Orlando tonight. Me: Which bands are these? The ones you go to where people get punched in the face while they're listening? Jordan:  Yeah, yeah, but they're amazing. Tonight it's August Burns Red , Texas in July, Silverstein and Letlive. Me: I will just never understand why anyone would want to go back to a concert where they get punched in the face...maybe you could explain this to me. Jordan: Mom, mom, seriously... it's not about being punched in the face.  Some of these bands have an amazing message. You need to consider the lyrics. Me: Be careful, Jordan. I get a little concerned with this hardcore stuff. Do you think this environment lends itself to people bringing drugs to these concerts? I'm thinking there mig...

Gaither Homecoming!!!

Sharon J. and Michele guessed correctly where it was that my Mother-in-love (Hereafter referred to as MIL) and I were headed for our outing! It's after 1 am but right now I'm blogging about it because I'm too keyed up to go to sleep. We are getting back from the Gaither Homecoming in Orlando. This year they didn't come to Tampa. The closest concert to us this year is Orlando and somebody blessed me with two tickets! This year instead of Jordan and I going it was my MIL and he's a little peeved at me for that, but he'll get over it and we'll go again next year. (GRIN) I am NOT going to tell him that the Gaither Vocal Band sang, "Let Freedom Ring" or the boy just might go postal on me. He just may be the only 17 year old boy in America who would do that... (lol) By the way, Bill Gaither announced tonight that the new GBV DVD's have topped the billboard charts for two consecutive weeks in a row now. I am not surprised! Man o Man..........this was ...

Breathing Room is here!

Well, Breathing Room is officially now available. Not just figuratively or literally but spiritually! They just became ready for distribution this past weekend, and we have already sold quite a few. As I've said before, the goal of this project is not to show my capabilities vocally or to become more well known or anything. Truly I don't care about being known for singing. (Yes, other things I do struggle with the desire to be known for...that's not one of them anymore.) With that said at the same time, I still like to sing and play. Anyway, I digress. The first copy of Breathing Room went to a mother who just lost her toddler when he drowned in a swimming pool two weeks ago. He wandered out to the back yard in a moments time...and that was it. Her cousin is a member of our church and she asked me if I had any copies of the CD ready yet. At that time, I had just two sitting on my desk. She took one and immediately drove it over to her cousin's. I understand that th...
