What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Some people just get ideas, others actually run with them

Which kind of person are you? We'll talk about that more in a minute.  But first...yesterday was an interesting day for me.  I spent most of my day at CTN, the Christian Television Station in Largo, as a guest on Homekeepers, with my friend and host, Arthelene Rippy .  She called a few weeks ago and asked if I would come over to be interviewed about my life coaching program for women.  We had a delightful time talking about it and she already told me she's having me back on to talk about my new book as soon as it comes out.  :)  Yay!  (Can you tell, practically all I'm thinking about is this book?!  I can't say too much right now other than to say some MAJOR steps forward have happened this week.) I struggled yesterday with a mild headache during the interview and by the time it was over and I was going back to the church office I had a full blown migraine.  I almost never miss church and last night my husband took my sermon and preached ...

Leaders and emotional health

Blogging from my phone today. Believe it or not, I didn't bring my computer on vaca! Larry did bring his and I'll blog from it on some days but others like today will be a short thought from my phone. I purposely didn't bring my computer because it has too much work that could distract me and quite honestly I seriously need a break from it. Larry's computer holds none of my files so it's not an issue if I get on to blog for a few minutes or what not. Blogging's not work, by the way...it's nothing but pleasure. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing it from a device I love to hate...the phone...lol! Since I'm blogging from this invention that has such a love/hate relationship with me I'll just put one quick thought in this post today. The other day I listened to someone talk about the emotional health of a leader. It's so important that leaders be in optimal emotional health. One difficult part of our role is that we are helping sick peopl...

Good morning, world...

It's 4:25 in the morning and Larry and I just got home from the TV station not too long ago after doing the show from 12 am - 3 am. We are winding down which is always hard for me after the strong coffee I drink to stay awake and alert during the show. We prayed for a lot of people tonight and Larry decided to cut one of the songs out that usually play during the show so we could reach more people. I was so glad because it always breaks my heart to see people wait on the line for a long time and then not get through because time runs out. We had to pray very quickly but got through to everybody. No clue how I'm going to get up tomorrow with this little sleep, but...with God's help I will! It's sorta like when my boys were babies and I never got any sleep and ran on empty. I'm sure the day will feel like that tomorrow in ways, but it was worth it. Love being with my babe beside him in ministry. Nothing like it!

Zumba!

Wowwee! I tried something new tonight. It's called Zumba, and it's sooooooooo way fun. It's a dance/exercise class that combines salsa, merengue, hip hop, belly dancing, reggae and more. It's an hour and 15 min. of incredibly high intensity exercise. It's so cool, such an incredible work out, and so fun. There were like 10 people there that I knew, and it was a blast. To check out Zumba, and see what it's all about go to www.zumbaflava.com . One thing I did discover. The next time I go to Zumba I will have a new sports bra. Carmen Torres warned me 2 seconds before we started..."Uh, honey, I hope you have a very good bra on because if not, GET READY." She was right. :-) I have lost so much weight since the last one that I bought, it wasn't worth wearing it so I just wore a regular one...oh well, gives me an excuse to go shopping this weekend. Tonight I'm going to sit in the hot tub for a long time before I go to sleep because I'm thinking i...

WWJD?

Monday is my most tired day of the week (recovering from Sunday) and Wednesday is my busiest day of the week. I try to come home earlier, to have just a little time before church on Wed. night...sometimes it happens and sometimes not. Some days things are too crazy to even come home. Today I came home early to get a few things done, that otherwise wouldn't get done - since we are going away for a few days. Larry also has to do the America's Prayer Meeting show tonight so he needed to get some sleep before going. I need to go scrub down the bathrooms, and get dinner in order, but before I do, thought I would take a five minute breather and blog. We worked at the church last night until about 11:30 pm if I recall, that was the last time I looked at the clock. The stage looks fantastic. By the time I got home and cleaned up a few things and went to bed, well let's just say that I never made it up for my early morning bike ride today. Getting out of bed was the last thing I w...
