What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

A few photos from today...

I have a leadership meeting in and hour and a half (yes... can you say amazingly busy Sunday?!) and only have a second to post a few photos as I have to get the finishing touches lined up for this meeting, however I knew my blog readers as well as facebook friends would want to see a few photos of today. These were taken by Lourdes Manners. Thank you, Lourdes! Bladimir Jr, Angela, Bladimir St., Yesenia Prayer during the ceremony Totally amazing wedding cake (there were many more cupcakes in addition to this but we could not fit them all nicely on the table so we kept them in reserve for when these were gone. Check back each day this week, I am also going to post photo of the gourmet pretzel favors and the intructions with photos of us making them, so any of you who are interested can make your own for special occasions.

And now...the details of the surprise...

Please don't skip to the end of the story...it will ruin it for you... enjoy our day as it unfolded the way we all experienced it... Angela Rojas was raised in Miami and at the age of thirteen started getting into trouble. Her mother tried her best at raising her but as a single mother with three jobs in order to keep the family afloat financially it was difficult. Her mother was actually very strict and had house rules, but the fact that she worked three jobs gave Angela way too much time alone to get into trouble. She began running with other kids who were also getting into trouble and she soon met a young man, nineteen years old, named Bladimir Lainez, who lived in the same apartment complex. She was fifteen when she began dating him behind her mother's back. By the end of her sophomore year in high school, she was pregnant. Angela gave birth to her son when she was 16, and left and moved in with with Bladimir. She stayed in school despite having the responsibilities of a b...

Today's the day...

Yes, today's the day and I'm posting this at 6 am before I leave for church this morning. We were working at the church til' late last night. And then were so hungry and excited we couldn't wind down. So we went to eat at Cherry's and surprise, surprise they had KARAOKE!!! (All my friends know I love karaoke...I mean, who besides Tom doesn't? lol) I had a great time singing. I'll give you a little clue as to what I sang..."I've got a mustang it'll do 80...you don't have to be my baby..." :) I can't do the big reveal yet here on line because it hasn't happened at the church, but as soon as it does, I'll post it. LOTS of details coming later today, I PROMISE!

Only one more day!!!
Big day is TOMORROW!!!

If you think YOU can't wait til' the surprise... I'm even more excited if you can possibly imagine that...

Full day but a great one!

Today I had three projects I needed to do for the surprise this weekend. Fridays is normally our day off, but I had known ahead of time I would be busy working on the surprise much of the day. I don't mind...I'm so excited and can't believe that we're getting this close down to the wire. Everything went perfect with the things I had to get done today -- went pretty much like clockwork! Like I have said before, I have just felt the presence of the Lord overshadowing me in this process. Along with the three projects I managed to get a ton of other things in today. First of all (drum roll please) LARRY AN D I HAD A DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you believe this is the first time in almost two months?! (I am talking a date by ourselves, not going out in a big group or anything like that.) For two people who usually spend a lot of "couple time" this has been a very long stretch of not having time together. We have been consumed with work things, and kid things....

Only two more days...

Until I can finally tell you the surprise!

Taking a breath...

Time for a quick break from planning the surprise....truth be told I'm posting this at 1:13 am, which is the first time I've gotten to really sit down at my computer for any length of time the last 24 hours. Running to and fro to get things done as time is running out before 10:30 am on Sunday arrives. I got home from working all day and early evening on the surprise Thursday and when I got home I was delighted that my daughter had taken the initiative to clean, literally ALL day. Seriously. She did an amazing job. I didn't ask her to do any of it, she just did. When I walked in from work, I stood there and just hugged her and hugged her some more. I would have just stood there and hugged her all night I was so grateful but instead we went to a late night showing of Julie & Julia, and we had a blast! It made me want to fire up the stove and cook something as soon as I got home but seeing as it was 12:45 am when we got home, it was just time to check mail , do a quick...
