What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Full day but a great one!

Today I had three projects I needed to do for the surprise this weekend. Fridays is normally our day off, but I had known ahead of time I would be busy working on the surprise much of the day. I don't mind...I'm so excited and can't believe that we're getting this close down to the wire. Everything went perfect with the things I had to get done today -- went pretty much like clockwork! Like I have said before, I have just felt the presence of the Lord overshadowing me in this process.

Along with the three projects I managed to get a ton of other things in today. First of all (drum roll please) LARRY AND I HAD A DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you believe this is the first time in almost two months?! (I am talking a date by ourselves, not going out in a big group or anything like that.) For two people who usually spend a lot of "couple time" this has been a very long stretch of not having time together. We have been consumed with work things, and kid things. It's hard to explain some things we've gone through the past few months...all I'll say is, other things have demanded our attention to extreme. It was nice to sit and have dinner together tonight and talk without anybody interrupting us. The phone didn't even ring once while we ate. It was a MIRACLE, I tell you, a total MIRACLE!!!

Did three loads of clothes


Re-potted/planted four plants

Had a dentist appointment (x-rays, exam, cleaning) No cavities! Yeah! =]


Went grocery shopping


Picked up Maddie's food and some pigs ears for her at Petsmart.


Did some cleaning at the house that Savanna wasn't able to do yesterday


Checked and answered work mail for NJ. My total email between pastoring/ministry, career coaching, writing, and other personal e-mail I receive can amount to several hundred emails a day. This is why at times I feel overwhelmed when it comes to answering my e-mail in a timely fashion but I try to give everyone an answer by 24 hours. If you have ever had a delay in hearing from me, now you know why. :)

Time for sleep. I'm leading life coaching in the morning, and then working on the surprise most of the rest of the day.

It's almost here...

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control.
