What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

I don't ask why anymore, I just ask what

So many times we get caught up in the question, "why."  A majority of my life I was consumed with this question of why this or that happened or didn't happen.  I found it was prohibitive to my moving on in life which is why I've finally ditched the question, for myself and for others too.

When I have gone through hard times or circumstances particularly when I didn't ask for it and felt I was undeserving  I often asked why.  Now I've come to think, "why not"?   It's much more comfortable for us to go through life in denial that we'll be in the group of people that certain things happen to, until they happen.  The truth is that the bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust.  Sometimes horrible things happen to people who don't deserve it.  What makes any of us think we will be exempt from hardship?   All of the greats of the bible went through difficulties.

I now ask WHAT.  What do you want me to learn from this, Lord?  What can I do to bring glory to You through this?  What might happen through this circumstance to bring attention to Your greatness?  What will this do to possibly propel me into my next level?  Keep in mind that the set backs the people in the bible went through were their divine set ups for promotion!

I also stopped asking why other people did or didn't do certain things.  In cases where they commit sinful acts, asking why never gets you any closer to understanding because sin doesn't make sense.  Satan is the author of confusion therefore seldom will sinful behavior on the part of others make any sense either.

Asking why never got me anywhere.  Asking what has been quite productive.  I encourage anyone to try tweaking this line of questioning in your own life and see things move forward in the right direction.

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
