What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

People of wonder

I'm carrying my stuff to church in this new tote bag I just got Friday:

I saw it at Walmart...couldn't resist it.  Besides it was only $7.  For a long time now people in the church have called me "Wonder Woman."  It all started years ago  on my birthday when they were bringing a cake out for me at church to blow out the candles and the sound person played the theme from "Wonder Woman" as we cut the cake.  It sorta stuck and since that time people have given me Wonder Woman t-shirts, pajamas, mugs, etc.

I enjoy being a "Wonder Woman" for God.  Any Christian woman can be a wonder woman.  Did you know that?  For that matter, it's not limited to women!  Men can be people of WONDER!

Hebrews 2:4
"And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose."

I am headed to church this morning excited about what God will do, confirming His message through signs, wonders and various miracles and gifts of the spirit through His wonder women and men of God!  All it takes is a a surrendered heart -- an openness to what He wants to do.  God can do ANYTHING!!!!

I had a very busy day yesterday with an AMAZING day at life coaching -- I'm talking an absolutely phenomenal day -- I believe sweeping life changes are going to be made in some women's lives and I couldn't be more excited for them.  After a great morning at Life Coaching I went home so that Larry and I could spend the rest of the day cleaning in preparation for the Superbowl and for his parents to come visit from Maryland on Tuesday.  In between all that cleaning, I fit 3 miles of biking in...in the pouring rain!  It was a mess out there but I felt so accomplished.  By the time I was done cleaning last night, just from walking around the house doing all that we did I took over 10,000 steps on my pedometer.  Yes, we worked THAT much.  I couldn't wait to sink into my big tub last night.

I am so thankful for all of God's blessings on me.  Every time I sit in my tub I think of my many friends around the world - in third world countries who have never known the joy of sitting in a bubble bath like this.  They don't even have clean drinking water. I have many people I actually count as "friends" who have to live this way.  They keep in touch with me personally, they are not just on a TV show or something.   It's my habit to always thank the Lord for this blessing that I have, and  pray a prayer for them.  Sometimes I question why I was ever born into such a blessed place as America.  I won't beat myself up over it, however I take it as my call to pray, and give as much as I can to help others who are not as fortunate.  So, I will enjoy my baths, but I will also spend the rest of my life helping others.

In other news, I can't wait for the Steelers to shred the Packers today. :)

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
