What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

True Church Stories - #19

A few years ago Larry was preaching a message on a Sunday morning called, "Sharpen Your Axe!"

It was a great message on staying spiritually sharp.  However when it came time for the altar call, he had a little slip of the tongue and instead of saying, "If you want God to sharpen your axe, come down to the altar," he said, "If you want God to sharpen your a$#, come down to the altar!!!"

Oh. My. Stars.

It was the funniest thing ever.  He was upset and embarrassed as you might imagine.  I didn't make it any easier when on the way home from church as we were riding in the car I said, "Honey, I went to the altar this morning and stood there a long time, but things are still the same...

If looks could have killed...

Along those same lines...sort of...

My family was playing Cranium together, and my sister-in-law (whose family does not attend church) got the question, "True or False: 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's a____' is a commandment in the Bible."

She blurted out, "Oh, that is definitely false - there's NO WAY that's in the Bible!"

Of course, those of us familiar with the KJV know that it is true...

When she was told that her answer was incorrect, she said, "WHAT?!?! Is there some sort of ghetto verson of the Bible of something?"

My point is...maybe that's the translation Larry was preaching out of that day ;o).

We've all done that. Especially us fast talkers. For some reason I literally have a problem with "ask". It does come out...well you know.

Another "cracked pot" example of God doing something with nothing.

Blessings! I'm following you now; please consider doing the same. Would love my GodsyGirl readers to meet you!

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
