What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Happy birthday, babe


Today is my beloved's birthday.

I was really blessed yesterday wondering if it was my birthday instead.  He helped me with the Christmas trees, (all SIX of them) and even fixed the broken one and went out and surprised me by getting pink lights for it and putting it in our bedroom.  Then he cooked dinner.   Jordan got him a cast iron dutch oven from Cracker Barrel and using his new cookware (yes, it's his although I'm sure he'll let me use it)  he made beef stew and biscuits.  It was so good.  He's a great cook.

I have a small gift for him today and then we'll go shopping and have him pick something he really wants, from me later this week.  He's a hard person to buy for and most times I have him select whatever it is that he wants to make sure it's what he really likes.  I've gotten him a lot of gifts that have really bombed so I like to err on the safe side. 

I'm very thankful for him...it's such a blessing to be married to a man of God -- one who is a good father and cares about things like pink lights and being there for his family.  I've also said over the years how thankful I am that he's such an even keeled spiritual man..."stable" for lack of a better word.  I've never had to worry about his faith.  He's rock solid in his devotion to the Lord, and his commitment to the Word of God and truth.  That is no small thing to me.  I've seen a lot in my time and the more time that goes on I'm thankful for a husband who is not a flake.

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me.
