What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Stuff I say all the time

Yesterday we had a memorial service for someone who passed away who was affiliated with our church.  People recalled things the deceased said and did.   It got me thinking about the fact that we all have stuff we say all the time...our unique "isms".    These are some things that come out of my mouth at least once a week, some every single day.  I'm sure my friends could add more obvious ones than I am just not thinking about at the moment.

"Absolutely!!!"

"It's amazing!!!"

"If you don't ask, the answer's always no!"

"If you just do the right thing long enough, it will catch up with you."

"Are. You. Serious??!!!!!!!"

"That tastes so good it would make a tadpole slap a whale!"

[To my kids]  "I brought you into this world..."

"What-EVER!!!!"

"Oh my Lord!!!"

"Hmmmm........."

"Ab-so-freakin-lutely!!!"

"I love you."

"Get ready, get ready, get ready!!!"

"Cancel, cancel, cancel!"

"I need that like I need a hole in the head."

"Well, at the end of the day..."

"I need an iced tea."

"You have GOT to be kidding me!!!!!!"

"Well, halleluiah Jesus!"

"Somebody SCREAM!!!"

"Dear Lord Jesus in heaven!!!!"

"Well let me tell you..."

"I am not even kidding you..."

"Give a shout up in here!"

"Woooooow."

"How can I help you?"

"Yep, for you I've got a minute."

"Deanna -- D-E-A-N-N-A,  all one word with two n's."

"Tomorrow is a brand new day."

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
