What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Yesterday was off the chain!

It wasn't "my day" yesterday for Father's Day but oh MY, was I ever blessed!

I was expecting a great day at church but I had no idea what was in store.  Worship and everything else went well but the biggest surprise was when Larry came to the pulpit to preach and he said, "we've got something extra special today...I'm going to invite my son Dustin to the pulpit and this morning we're going to present a tag team message!"  You could have just knocked me off my seat.  I had no idea!  They surprised even me and worked on this message without me knowing!

Dustin has been preaching in youth periodically in addition to  leading worship.  He does have the call of God upon his life and is cultivating that, however, he has not preached in Sunday morning service.  This was a first!  It was amazing!!!  What a job he did.

We are going to be putting the message on the podcast asap and I am going to post the link here when we get it up.  I was hoping to have it by last night however with the Father's Day festivities it will have to wait til' Monday.

Sunday morning I just realized once again how very blessed I am.  There's no greater joy than to have your kids serve God and follow Him wholeheartedly.  This past week I was prompted once again to read and pray through, "The Power of a Praying Mother" and "The Power of a Praying Wife" again.  Those are two books that have really blessed me and impacted my life and family.  They have helped us navigate many waters.  When I go through Sundays like this past one I realize that every moment of prayer that has ever gone up to heaven on behalf of my family has been more than worth it.

We had a great day yesterday relaxing with our family and friends.  After some amazing steaks on the grill we laid around, napped and watched the movie, "Leap Year."  Fun!

Here's to a great week ahead...not claiming a manic Monday...believing for a miraculous one.

Deanna, we had a great Sunday also. Kristian and Shannon Walker came to minister as "Leaders of Worship" for the weekend. They even held a conference for the worship teams...which my husband greatly enjoyed!! I've been reading the Gift of the Holy Spirit Today...a loan from my pastor. It has opened my eyes to the necessity of daily verbal exaltation of Jesus in our lives to bring the power of the Holy Spirit to Its fulness . I will tune in later today to hear the message! Can't wait. You must be sooo proud! :)

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
