What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Pastors are not omnipresent...

But it sure would be nice if we were at times like this.

Yesterday Larry and I went out of town to do the wedding of Nick and Normandy, a very special couple from Celebration.   Last evening was the rehearsal and dinner, (at the Palm Tree Grille -- which was lovely!) and today is the wedding.

Late last evening we got a call that Donna, one of our church members at Celebration, was hit by a car.   She was walking across a busy street and was hit at full impact and has sustained very serious injuries.  Doctors had not given a good report AT ALL and it was touch and go.  We activated the prayer chain and facebook messages last night and we received reports through the night.  As of 4 am this morning, we have found out that she has received blood transfusions for the loss of blood she sustained, has a "nick" on her kidney and liver, multiple severe bruises and lacerations.  And...SHE'S ALIVE AND ON THE MEND AND IN ICU!!!  We just give praise to God for this because as I said, the doctors had given an extremely bleak report however we believed God's report and she has pulled through.

Larry and I could not be at two places at once but fortunately not only is Jesus there but so are other church leaders who are on the scene.

Please continue to join us in prayer for Donna's complete restoration.

Pastoring is such a rollercoaster ride.  It's hard to explain how you can have so many emotions at the same time.  I have a heavy heart for Donna and her family, and at the same time jubiliation and pride for the couple that is marrying today.  I go back and forth in my mind every few minutes between joyous emotions and  concern and prayer.  This is the life of a church Momma.  :)

There are 9 supernatural gifts of the spirit listed in scripture but I really think God might have considered making omnipresence one for pastors...but then again probably the reason He didn't is that He wants His whole body to rise up and do the work of the ministry and carry the load, not just us.  Yep, I believe that would be it...

Thank you Jesus for your beautiful plan called...the church!  It is family...what "community" is all about...serving TOGETHER.

For those of you who are joining with us in prayer for Donna (whether you know her or not) and would like to send her a card and tell her so...you may reach her at:

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
