What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! The hardest job you'll ever love!

There's nothing like being a Mom.  It doesn't matter how well you prepare for it -- you'll never really understand it until it happens to you.  And when it does, you know what it's like to have your heart walking around outside your body for the rest of your life.  Unsuccessfully you try again and again to not be "overly concerned"  when you have a sense that something may not be quite right with your child, or go off the deep end when you know for a fact they are in a dangerous situation.   There's nothing like how a mom reacts when something is threatening one of her kids.  I call it the "she-bear anointing."  :)   At times when I've been scolded about worrying, I retort, "Oh, I'm not worried, I'm just a concerned mother..."  But the truth is, I do worry sometimes.

Twenty years ago I had no children and all the answers.  Today I have three children on earth, one in heaven, and very few if any of the answers.  All I know to do is love my children and pray my guts out on a constant basis.  I have always felt that if I just made sure I poured my love into them daily, it would make up for my mistakes.  The Bible says love covers a multitude of sins.  I've sinned and I've made mistakes, for sure.  But love sure has helped us through our ups and downs.

If you are a Mom who is struggling in some aspect of your parenting right now, I don't have any magic words for you and certainly not all the answers but I do know one thing for sure... you can never go wrong by loving extravagantly and uncondtionally.    Express your love -- pour affection on even during the stages of their lives (adoloscence) where they many times act like they don't want you to be affectionate.  Pour it on anyway!   Hold on tight to Jesus -- rely on Him for direction and strength and love the daylights out of your kids.

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me.
