What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! The way back home

We got up yesterday morning to leave A Bear Encounter and start the journey back.  We took our time on the road, stopping along the way, whether it be for photos on a scenic hill, or to sightsee. We went to Ruby Falls, which is the nation's largest underground waterfall. Located over 1120 feet beneath the surface, Ruby Falls is the deepest waterfall open to the public. Hundreds of gallons of water rush over it by the minute.  They have no idea where the water comes from. They do know where it ends up, but don’t know where it originates. Just another one of the wonderful mysteries of God. His creation is spectacular.  This was especially meaningful for me after reading the book, Crazy Love while I was away this week.  Anyone who has read chapter one knows what I'm talking about.

 I might have gone to Ruby Falls as a kid, since I went through Tennessee so many times growing up.  I do know if I did see it back then I didn’t appreciate it, because I don’t remember it like I will now after seeing it and understanding the magnitude of it. I got lots of photos inside the cave as well as on top of the mountain. I’m going to include a few of them throughout this post,  We were 1200 feet underground and the stalagmites were just amazing. It was breathtaking below the surface but  I was really glad to come out and see land again. There’s something about being that far underground and bending down to go through teeny portals of rock that makes you want to be out in the open air, at least it does me that way.  Larry knew I'd have a blast photographing this, which is probably why he decided to pull off at the exit and go there, wonderful man that he is.  By the way, we had such fun on the journey yesterday that I laughed my make up off...seriously.  That's a good thing.  It's a whole other post in itself but suffice it to say I programmed the GPS the wrong way and it caused such an issue I laughed uncontrollably for about 15 minutes.  Ahhhhhhhh.....good times.


By the time we got out of Ruby Falls we were so hungry. We went to Cracker Barrel for a combination lunch/dinner and got back on the road.  We stopped in Tifton, GA about four hours from home, to stay overnight.  Late this morning we'll get back on the road to make the rest of the journey.

I have been doing tons of reading and writing on the road as I normally do. Reading several books researching for an upcoming message I’ll be delivering at a conference on the subject of partnership marriage when you are married to someone who is your complete OPPOSITE. (Hmmmm…wonder why they asked me to speak on THAT?! Lol)

I’m glad we chose to stay overnight last night and not drive straight through. Just needed one more uninterrupted night together. Sometimes people think because your kids grow up that it’s easy to get time together but we have to fight just as hard for it. Many nights just when we finally drop into bed and settle into each others arms, a knock comes at the door and we hear, “Mom…Dad…can I talk to you?” I’ve got amazing kids. They WANT to talk to us, and we LOVE THAT. And we love THEM! We listen, and we’re there always. But at the same time we need our time. And I’m so glad we had that time this past week because the uninterrupted time without fighting for every last second of it was long overdue! Now…back to life as we know it -- and LIFE IS GOOD.

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline.
