What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Weekend Wrap Up

Great day at church today...

It was an incredibly busy weekend and I did not have a whole day off this week as Friday was the Christmas in July event and every day was full this week with something going on. Tonight was the leadership meeting and that always means a late night even if we end on time, (which we normally do), but at least a people always stay to hang out with us afterwards. I like that -- so it's not a complaint, just an explanation for why I feel totally spent tonight.

I am looking forward to a slower paced week. I need it. It has been a week since Larry and I have been home from vaca and still we have not had time to ourselves nor a date. We have worked non-stop and not so much as had one private adult conversation beyond work and even that has been difficult. Our schedules have been so packed on individual projects it's been mostly 5 or 10 minute conversations here and there, strictly on business subjects. I am really, really, really looking forward to having a date this week, needless to say!! My birthday is this week besides that and I'm sure he'll have something in mind...he always does.

We do have a houseguest coming for the week. Pastor Sam Diaz who is a good friend who was on staff with us years ago is coming to Tampa for some trainings and he is going to stay with us while he's here. We love him to pieces so he is definitely a welcome houseguest and we look forward to spending some time with him. He arrives tomorrow night after work.

Next week is also AG general council week and we will have our friends the Visconti's here on Sunday. So excited!

This week I'm going to blog on some deeper issues...I know I said before that I was going to do that but it's just been a week where I was so pressed for time. This coming week I'm going to write on some things I've been tossing around in this head of mine. Look out!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline.
