What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

My two new best friends ~
honey and cinnamon!

My friend Pastor Leanne Weber did an excellent blog post yesterday on the healing power of honey and cinnamon. I wholeheartedly believe in this. Yes, I believe in the power of divine healing but I believe God has also given us other means by which to physically heal us at times. I encourage you to click the link to her post and see just how amazing these two ingredients are and what God made them to do.

As most of you know I've been sick for two months ever since I got back from Africa. Last week I had every test you can imagine. It appears my stomach problems have returned. I have an appointment with a specialist on the 29th. However, I have this thing I love to do ~ sleep. And with the pain I've been in it's been impossible to sleep or get comfortable during the day either. I have been trying everything OTC you can imagine. The other day I was surfing for "natural cures" and lo and behold I heard about honey. I tried it and in just two times of taking a teaspoon of honey I started to feel a little better. Please understand, I am not pain free yet however it has greatly improved after three days of taking teaspoons of honey whenever I feel the worst, plus taking a teaspoon right before I go to sleep. I have actually gotten rest the past few nights. Turning over does not wake me up because I feel pain.

I just want to let everyone know about this so that if you are dealing with any of the kind of pain Leanne's post describes, try honey first. You might be surprised!

A guy I used to work with is a beekeeper in addition to being a college professor, and he also told me that eating locally made honey will help with allergies - because you're taking in a little bit of the pollen you're exposed to every day to protect yourself against a lot of it (sort of the same principle as vaccinations).
I'm going to look for local honey. Have no idea where to get it but I'm sure I'll find it...thanks!

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me. He began to give me my next post for Lost Daughters, where I'm also a blogger. To be honest it's more than just another place where I blog. It's a sisterhood. A lifeline. A place that has come to mean a great deal to me, because of the amazing women who are there. During the service I basically had this entire post...
