What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Meme about me and my kids

Cassandra over at Tripping Around the Sun tagged me to do this meme. Haven't done one in a while...here we go:

First: post a picture of you and your kids.


Here are two photos - I don't have a picture of me with all three, just one of me with the boys, and then one with Savanna. Guess we need to take one of us all together now that you mention it... geez, what kind of mother am I? (lol)

Second: Answer the questions.

1. How many children do you have? Three ~ Dustin, Jordan and Savanna

2. What are their ages? Dustin - 18, Jordan - 17, Savanna - 11

3. What time of day do you start your day? 6:00 A.M.

4. What do you eat for breakfast? Depends what day it is and if I'm on point with WW or not! If I'm not on point it could be a PB & J but if I am on point usually a 1/2 bagel, or my special WW egg sandwich.

5. Do they watch TV? Yes, more than I would like but it's not one of the main things I make a huge deal over. I am much more of an easy going Mom than most.

6. What are their favorite activities? They all differ in what they enjoy however a few things they all enjoy are music and reading.

7. Do you get a break during the day from them? Yes I do. They are all in school and my boys are 17 and 18 so they work a lot themselves and we are just in a different stage of life now from when they were babies. For many years though, no, it seemed I never got a break.

8. How do you end your day? Reading. Or spending time with Larry. Usually both.

9. What is your best parenting advice or tip? Love your children. You will make a lot of mistakes - every parent does. But if you really, really genuinely love them and you show it, and they know it -- love covers a multitude of sins and mistakes.

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
