What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

Getting ready

Today I'm preparing for an amazing Thanksgiving!  This is my favorite holiday.  I enjoy special times like this and extending hospitality ALL the time, but especially on this day.  Aside from one coaching meeting, all day I will be cooking, cleaning, and getting all in order for 14 people to be with us for the big day tomorrow.  Somehow I finished 11 projects I had on the burner for church in just a few days.  Seriously.  God's grace , that's all there is to it.  That was in additon to the busy weekend that we had with our workday, Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas decorating day.  It was a fabulous weekend, just exhausting.  I do have one more project that has to be done by Sunday...it'll get there.     Last night Larry suggested we move everything into the formal dining room so we put our kitchen table in there as well as some tray tables.  Last night I stayed up late ironing tablecloths an...

Maddie miracles...ONE year old today!!!

Here is your Maddie update for the day, and it is miracle filled!  She is one year old today.  God gave her to us and then spared her life.  We are twice blessed. Remember the black scarred areas we were told would probably stay forever?  Guess what?  They are falling off!  New skin is coming in!!!  Almost all of the black areas have fallen off of her face.  Pink areas were left and now they are filling in with white hair again.  Look how great her face looks!!!!  God Himself did surgery on her... Laying in front of the window again like she loves to do... Although we still take her out in the sling, she is walking better day by day and getting much stronger.  She wants to do much more than she is capable of right now.  We have to watch her carefully. She's gonna make it...keep praying our sweet Maddie to 100% healing.  We are experiencing our Thanksgiving/Christmas miracle!!

Five healthy and low fat things I really like

I try my best to eat healthy although I fail at times.    But I thought today I would share some of my favorite healthy things and if you haven't tried them, give them a try:    1)  Kashi Island Vanilla Whole Wheat Biscuits Cereal - my favorite!  So far I can only find this at Publix.  I really wish they sold it at Sweetbay which is where I shop most often. 2)  Chobani Greek Yogurt.  Great stuff.  Tasted it in Sam's the first time and fell in love with it.   Savanna and I are crazy about this -- the boys still like the Yoplait "Thick & Creamy" brand even though they are Greek!  (I'm 50% greek, making my boys 25% greek...LOL) 3)  I get a big bag of frozen blueberries from Sam's club.  It's a resealable bag.  In the morning sometimes I make a smoothie with one small container of vanilla lowfat yogurt, 1/2 a banana and throw in a small amount (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 c) blueberr...

Just Say It Series:
Age does not always make
one worthy to be a mentor

Someone just asked me, "are you going to post any more in the "Just Say It" series?   Yes.  Here you go!  This week a friend mentioned to me that it bothers them that we [people in my age category] make up much of the mentorship in the church -- that we  are now the role models/mentors, and there seems to be a lack of elderly people who are utilized in this role.  While I notice more individuals in this role than they do, I also believe that people including my friend are often naive as to who really qualifies  [scripturally] as a mentor.  Age is not the primary qualifying factor -- I believe it's a biblical maturity issue as well as a heart/movitation issue.  Recently I wrote an article about this very issue for the Assemblies of God Women in Ministry Mobilized.  I thought I'd share it here  for those interested.  [This article was geared for women pastors but it applies to anyone.] During the time Larry and I ha...
