What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! What do people think when the phone rings and it's YOU?

In your business, or ministry are people eager to take your calls or do you play endless phone tag?

Do people get excited when they hear your voice on the phone?

How quickly do people return your calls?

Do people want to help you? 


Are you the family member that makes other family members praise the Lord that caller ID was invented?

These are things you might want to think about.

Nobody's responsibilities are peachy 100% of the time. We all have parts of our job or our life that we may not enjoy as much. A lot of people procrastinate or put those things off, simply because they aren't looking forward to it. I'll admit, I do it too at times.

Today I had a draining call and after I hung up needed an Advil. And I thought to myself, "What's the takeaway from this? What can I learn from this?"

Rather than ruminate about the call and how I thought the other person should change, I decided to relate it to improving myself which is the best thing any leader can do. We can't change others but we can do something about ourselves. I thought to myself:

I want to be the voice everyone wants to hear on the other end of the line when the phone rings. When I call people I want them to do a little happy dance and go, OH. MY. GOSH. it's Deanna Shrodes on the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best thing to happen to me today!

I never want someone to avoid my call, or feel like they are getting a migraine when we hang up. You've heard of the morning after pill? Somebody should invent the after-the-phone-call pill. Pastors alone would keep the pharmaceutical company that creates it in business.

Seriously, now. Being a person who lights up somebody's phone world is possible. How do I know? There are people who do it for me. There are people who call me and I can't wait to hear what they have to say! I base this on all of our past conversations. This is doable. It's not just wishful thinking. 

I can be the voice everyone wants to hear when the phone rings. So can you.

Let's try it.

What would be possible in our lives, in our leadership if people couldn't wait to talk to us because it's just so darn pleasant?

I love this!! Sadly, there are a few people who get "screened" when they call me. But, just a few....I try to choose wisely when I give out my phone number! :) I have a feeling if you called me Deanna.....I would do a happy dance! :)

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching.
