What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! Bleech

So I've had another post I had written that was ready to publish this morning and it was excellently crafted if I do say so myself.  But,  I can't bring myself to post it because it's just not true to where I'm at this morning.

I can't post what I really think today. 

It's a day for private journaling and saying a lot of things that would be extremely unwise should I speak them aloud.

But I blog everyday here.  Without fail.  365.  Rain or shine.  Sick or well.  Happy or sad.

So here it is. 

I'm leaving this afternoon to speak in Orlando this weekend. 
I would love to start driving, throw my cell phone out a window into a ditch,  cruise down the road for however long I felt like it, then stop and sit in the middle of nowhere for days.  During this time I would scarf down a plate of my mother in law's pork chops with gravy and mashed potatoes, and top it off with a big piece of warm pie.  Then I'd pull the covers over my head and sleep for a really long time. 

But that's not on my schedule for today and I'm a stick-to-the-schedule- kind of girl.  And besides that I've decided not to eat anymore because I'm stressed or angry.  It really does nothing to harm those who torque me off when I eat a bag of chips because they did something that frosted me.    

I'm packing to leave this morning, after I open up my live journal and say all my dangerous words, that is.

Journals are good.   They have saved me from doing many bad things in the past simply because I had a place to take my dangerous words before they turned into something else that would be far more harmful. 
Excuse me while I go have a mind dump.

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them.
