What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

New

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."  Isaiah 43:18-19

It's amazing what you can forget when you make up your mind to.

People say you can't forget difficult things.  All I know is what God says.  He says to FORGET the former things -- that must mean it's possible.  Instruction or encouragement wouldn't be there in His Word if it weren't doable.

Never in my life have I been so happy to forget - wipe clean from my mind altogether -- (and I do mean completely as if it never existed) many former happenings, people and circumstances and move on to the new thing God has for me, for us.

The new thing springs up, even today it springs up.  This morning the new church sign is unveiled, Celebration Church is founded, and a new day has come, a new beginning -- out with the old in with the new.

He has already made a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

We are blessed with so much fruit, mature -- ripe fruit -- that remains.

Yesterday I didn't get home from working at the church til 11 pm but you know it was a FANTASTIC DAY of people just spontaneously pulling together.  Mark Twain said if you love what you do, you won't work a day in your life!  I believe it!
We didn't have an official workday.  It was just our staff, and people who decided to stop by the church.  Larry and I counted up last night when we got home and there were over 50 people who just stopped by just to lend a hand, most for HOURS of time...quite a number ALL DAY.  We were so grateful.

The core of this church is strong as the day is long.  Committed.  Loyal.  Everything was shaken that could be shaken quite a while back that left us with the lasting fruit of this kind.  Larry and I as well as most of those 50 people were just exhausted beyond belief when we left late last night but I'm not sure if any group of people has ever been more excited and feeling like we are on the threshold of something HUGE!
I am just pinching myself with the reality that CELEBRATION CHURCH OPENS TOMORROW!!!

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
