What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! I find that what Seth is saying here is absolutely true, with one disclaimer. For Christian leaders, spiritual disciplines must always be first. Before we started i...

A woman's work is never done

Can't really call this a typical fun Friday because aside from taking some extra time to sleep after the kids were off to school, I worked 90% of the day, trying to get things ready to leave for Phoenix, and beyond that to Africa. I'll only be home for a few days from Arizona and then leave for Africa. To be gone this much I have to work waaaay ahead. This week I had to get six messages done (not all for Africa, some for church and other events.) Plus all kinds of other paperwork that I normally take care of...

I'm making real headway with it, it's just a long process if I'm going to do it right particularly with messages. I put my whole heart and soul into them, and don't make exceptions to that even if I'm having to do them in advance.

Tonight as I was finishing my second message Larry made his spaghetti for dinner. He makes THE BEST in the world. I've bragged on it here many times. We all just love it. It was a bright spot in my day of plowing through all this work.

After working until my brain was so tired, I decided to go out and walk/bike 3 miles. Just couldn't do six tonight...I had too many other things to get back to, like dishes, and other house stuff. My goal is to get the whole house in good order by the time we leave too...not to mention last minute wrap up for Sunday services.

And, last but definitely not least, we'll celebrate Dustin's birthday on Monday night! Yeah! My wonderful first born will be 19! Only one more year as a "teen". Amazing. I can't believe it! Speaking of Dustin, something major is on the line for him right now and it has the potential to be SUPER good so please pray for him that he would have favor! I can't say what it is right now...but as soon as I know, I will. Just pray for him.

After exercising 3 miles I came back and showered and put my Wonder Woman pajamas on. (Yes, I do really have them...Becky from church gave them to me a a gift!) And sat down to finish a few message outlines. At this point right now I'm wondering... should I push through for another one or watch Fox News and go to sleep? I think I might opt for sleep, not sure yet.

Decisions...decisions...

AGE 19! That's when I started dating my dh :) I just celebrated my 44 birthday this week. I went to see the movie Fireproof. It was very good! We want to have it at our church. A desire of my heart was granted: I had always wanted a diamond with the WOW factor! A friend gave me one. It's beautiful. I was shocked!! It was everything I had wanted (specs).
I am still in a daze.
PS You'll have to come for our family recipe for sauce, meatballs, and pasta! YUM!

WATCH OUT FOR THE
NEW FACEBOOK SCAM!!!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Jordan said, "Mom, you need to put this on your blog and let people know about it so it won't happen to ...

Have you chosen a word of the year?

Selecting a personal word of the year has been my custom for many years. The word is my theme of the year and something for me to focus on, to build my faith and to grow. Each year I look for ways to remind myself of the theme…everything from a decorative sign with the word, to a piece of jewelry. This year my word is resilient.  All my life I have had to be resilient, and some years more than others.   I know it is this way with everyone to a degree. No one is immune to pain or problems. But frankly, some people are more resilient than others.   I have been studying those who are most resilient and trying to learn from them. With 2017 coming to a close,I have things to bounce back from. There are parts of my life I’m absolutely slaying and other parts that are out of my control. If I could control it, I would have already given everything I have to slaying it.   The challenges remaining are out of the realm of me being able to change them asid...
