What To Do First to Make a Profit

The PF Women Team at our Annual Team Retreat  ~ 2018 Today on Seth Godin's blog, he said: It's tempting to decide to make a profit first, then invest in training, people, facilities, promotion, customer service and most of all, doing important work. In general, though, it goes the other way. Yes, it does. If you are waiting to make a profit before you do these things, in my experience you're  not going to make a profit. So many organizations, ministries and churches are struggling with financial issues. I know your pain. As anyone who follows our story knows, our ministry was in a ton of debt four years ago when I came on as director.  Since that time, we've gotten out of debt and turned a profit every year.  God has done amazing things through out team, for which we give Him the glory! A day of blessing


Today was really a great day in the house @ Northside! You could feel the spirit of the God mightily in the place. Mallory led in worship and always does a great job. Lar and I tag teamed it today in preaching, continuing in our series, "The Presence Driven Church." At the close, we had a great worship time and at least one healing -- Willie came up to the microphone and testified at the end of the service, how he had been touched by the Lord. Wow, God really did a work, which we are not surprised by at all, for we come to church expecting Him to do it. I felt a new freedom in worship there at the end, which one of my sons also commented on ...again, no surprise, we were expecting it! (Church is always much better when you come EXPECTING!) Expectancy is indeed the breeding ground for a miracle! Truly, I sense some new and wonderful things about to unfold.

Larry finally figured out where he wanted to go for Father's Day (lunch) and that was B.D.'s Mongolian Grill which is quite a ways away but we made the trek over there. He really enjoyed it. I'm glad! I am so blessed to have a Godly, faithful husband who deeply loves his children and is so committed to our family. My joy was all five of us being at the table together, which doesn't happen as much anymore with my boys working so much. It was good. We had good conversation and fun as a family. I was sad when we had to come home and the boys had to both get to work tonight, but that's just life. Dustin is closing tonight so won't be home til' real late, and Jordan worked for a few hours this evening.

We did go visit Jordan at work tonight. First Larry and I came home from B.D.'s and took a few hour nap and then Tom and Cathy called and wanted us to meet them for ice cream so we headed up to DQ with Savanna and the five of us met there and shared dessert and conversation as well as came and observed Jordan a few minutes. (He gets proud of seeing us watch him work. The drive through goes noticeably faster when he's working it. That's my boy! I get a charge just out of visiting my kids for a few minutes at work and watching them.)

Sitting on chairs for hours at DQ gets kind of monotonous after a while and we didn't want to end fellowship so we moved back to our house and I put on a pot of tea while we talked a while. Good times. :-)

I'm tired but it's a good tired. I have my usual list of "to do's" lined up for work in the morning and I'm preaching in Eagle Lake tomorrow night. It'll be a busy day tomorrow until real late night, so in addition to my nap today a full night's sleep is a serious must so I can be at my best and focused. I feel great about what God wants to do tomorrow night in this meeting. I feel more of a passion and fire than ever to share His Word!

In the early hours of this morning, Jordan got home from work and checked his facebook and instantly received an IM from a friend who claimed to be in London, having been just robbed at gunpoint. Understandably Jordan was very concerned. His friend said he needed Jordan to send him some money immediately, as he was stranded. Jordan immediately alerted his father and I of the situation, thinking it was real and his friend needed help and wanted to know what he could or should do to reach out. Thankfully I had just heard on the news the day before that this was a new facebook scam where people were hacking into people's accounts and contacting their friends to ask for money, saying that they were in dangerous or dire situations. I alerted Jordan and we contacted his friend and his friend's parents and sister to get ahold of him immediately to take care of his account. Sisterhood Rises Up To Change Lives Forever

God is in the business of preserving families. It is His heart. It's my heart too. And, I'll unabashedly say here that I believe it should be everyone's heart. Everyone likes good news and I've got some for you today. If you are in doubt that God still speaks today and that He uses people to accomplish His work, I pray this will speak to you. Last night I was sitting in service at Celebration Church where we are pastors, and my husband was preaching. His message was about what we want to be remembered for in life, and he made the statement that we can't change our past but we can change the future.  In that moment, God spoke to me.
